Oct. 28 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. hydropower plants are involved in their biggest expansion since the 1980s to meet growing demand for cleaner and less expensive energy, USA Today reported.
Utility companies have proposed more than 70 projects over the coming decade that would boost hydroelectric capacity by at least 11,000 megawatts, or 11 percent, the newspaper said, citing MWH, a hydro engineering firm, and Hydro Review magazine.
