U.K. Pound Advances 1.7 Percent to $1.4885, Trimming Weekly Drop

Jan. 16 (Bloomberg) -- The pound rose 1.7 percent to $1.4885 as of 6:32 a.m. in London, trimming its weekly decline to 1.8 percent.

Against the euro, the U.K. currency climbed 0.5 percent to 89.21 pence, paring the drop in the past five days to 0.5 percent.
