Feb. 19 (Bloomberg) -- Datang International Power Generation Co., a unit of China’s second-biggest electricity generator, is in discussions to buy coal from Australian suppliers, Chairman Zhai Ruoyu said.
“We are in talks to buy less than 1 million metric tons of coal,” Zhai said today in an interview in Beijing. “It is cheaper to buy overseas coal.”
Datang’s current coal stockpile is enough for about 20 days of consumption, he said.
