Aug. 25 (Bloomberg) -- Valero Energy Corp., the largest U.S. refiner, reported two separate emissions events at its Port Arthur, Texas, refinery.
The first incident on Aug. 23 occurred in the sulfur- recovery unit after a problem with equipment for carrying water through the system, Valero said in a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
The second release happened in the plant's coking unit after a seal broke down, the company said. The incident caused the release of 554 pounds of sulfur dioxide.
The Port Arthur refinery is capable of processing 325,000 barrels of crude a day, according to the U.S. Energy Department.
