Oct. 10 (Bloomberg) -- Japan Atomic Power Co. found smoke inside a building housing equipment for processing waste from its Tokai No. 2 nuclear reactor. No smoke or radioactive materials were released to the environment, the company said.
Smoke was detected at 6:35 a.m. local time today, Japan Atomic said in a faxed statement. The 1,100-megawatts reactor located in Ibaraki prefecture northeast of Tokyo has continued operating as the incident won't affect safety, it said.
The fire department is investigating, it said.
