Oct. 7 (Bloomberg) -- The U.K.'s benchmark stock index, the FTSE 100, rose 2.28 percent at 8:05 a.m.
The index of 102 stocks traded on the London Stock Exchange rose 104.68 to 4,693.87. Among the stocks in the index, 93 rose, 3 fell and 6 were unchanged.
Gains in the FTSE 100 were led by Bp Plc (Bp/ Ln), Hsbc Holdings Plc (Hsba Ln) and Rio Tinto Plc (Rio Ln). About 19.81 million shares traded in the FTSE 100.
