Nov. 11 (Bloomberg) -- PTT Aromatics & Refining Pcl, Thailand's second-biggest petrochemical maker, restarted a hydrocracker unit this week after an unplanned shutdown since Aug. 21, the company said.
The refiner resumed operations at the unit on Nov. 8 after changing a catalyst in the hydrodesulfurizer and repairs to the heat exchanger, the company said in a statement to the Thailand stock exchange today. The hydrocracker had been shut because of a technical fault, the company said in late August.
The hydrocracker turns heavier oils into diesel, or gasoil, and a hydrodesulfurizer removes or lowers sulfur from fuels.
Bangkok-based PTT Aromatics's plant is located in Rayong province, southeast of the nation's capital. PTT Aromatics is a unit of PTT Pcl, Thailand's biggest energy company.
PTT Aromatics's other refining venture known as Star Petroleum Refining Co. has been shut for planned maintenance for 40 days from Nov. 1 to Dec. 10, the company said in the statement.
