Aug. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Yeochun NCC Co., South Korea's largest ethylene producer, partially restarted its No. 2 plant today after an unscheduled outage caused by a compressor fault, a company official said.
The ethylene plant, known as a cracker, was shut at 5:40 a.m. today and resumed operations late in the morning, said the official, who asked not to be identified because of company rules.
The unit will run at its full rate by tomorrow morning, the official said.
Yeochun NCC's No. 2 unit has the capacity to produce 555,000 metric tons of ethylene a year. Ethylene, mainly made from naphtha, is used to produce plastics and chemical products.
