AES Gener, Bancolombia, Colbun, Endesa: Latin Equity Preview

Nov. 20 (Bloomberg) -- The following companies may have unusual price changes today in Latin America trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and share prices reflect the previous close.

The MSCI Latin America Index fell 4.9 percent yesterday to 1,821.19. Brazil's markets are closed today for a holiday.

Chile

AES Gener SA (GENER CC): Chile's second-biggest electricity generator set a price for the sale of 945 million new shares at 162.5 pesos each. Shareholders approved the $240 million transaction in a meeting in Santiago yesterday, Gener said. Gener rose 2.3 percent to 182 pesos.

Empresa Nacional de Electricidad SA (ENDESA CC) and Colbun SA (COLBUN CC): Chile's biggest- and third-largest electricity generators have asked for nine months to answer the government's questions over an environmental impact study for a project that would generate 2,750 megawatts. Endesa rose 0.9 percent to 820.99 pesos. Colbun closed little changed at 96.95 pesos.

Colombia

Bancolombia SA (BCOLO CB): Colombia's central bank ought to lower interest rates this week as losses tied to the collapse of local pyramid schemes and the global financial crisis hurt economic growth, Finance Minister Oscar Ivan Zuluaga said in an interview yesterday. Bancolombia, Colombia's biggest lender, rose 0.4 percent to 11,280 pesos.

Mexico

Corporacion Interamericana de Entretenimiento SAB (CIEB MM): The Mexican concert promoter and gambling parlor operator said it sold 6.3 million pesos ($465,870) of 21-day commercial paper, after offering 50 million pesos. The debt was sold at an average annualized rate of 12.5 percent, CIE said in a filing with regulators yesterday. CIE remained unchanged at 9.83 pesos when it last traded Nov. 14.

IXE Grupo Financiero SAB (IXEGFO MM): The Mexican financial services company said it invested 60 million pesos in its own brokerage unit, boosting capital by 10 percent. IXE fell 3.2 percent to 12.10 pesos when it last traded Nov. 13.
