HK shares jump 3 pct on rate cut hopes

HONG KONG, Nov 7 (Reuters) - Hong Kong shares rose 3 percent on Friday, reversing sharp opening losses, with financial stocks leading the charge on hopes of market-boosting measures from Beijing.

HSBC (0005.HK: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) rose more than 2 percent after it cut its prime Hong Kong interest rate.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index .HSI unofficially closed up 431.06 points at 14,221.10.

The Chinese Enterprise Index .HSCE of top locally listed mainland Chinese companies rose 4.5 percent to 6,897.47.

China Construction Bank was up 4.7 percent on hopes Chinese policy makers will follow South Korea's central bank in easing borrowing costs.
