Dec. 18 (Bloomberg) --Switzerland's benchmark stock index, the Swiss Market Index, rose 0.83 percent at 9:05 a.m.
The index of 20 stocks traded on the Electronic Bourse System rose 46.09 to 5,594.29. Among the stocks in the index, 13 rose, 5 fell and 2 were unchanged.
Gains in the Swiss Market Index were led by Roche Holding Ag, Novartis Ag and Ubs Ag. About 2.35 million shares traded in the Swiss Market Index.
