(CEP News) - Asia-Pacific fixed income markets are gaining and equities closed higher with yields on Australian 10-year bonds down 6.0 bps to 5.92% and Japanese 10-year government bonds down 4.5 bps to 1.48%. Sydney's S&P ASX 200 closed up 2.90 points to 4986.199. The Japanese Nikkei closed up 43.42 points to 13168.41 and the Hang Seng up 3.26 points to 22107.46. Yields on three-year Australian bonds were flat at 6.76 and the Australian 90-day March 09 contract was up 4.0 ticks to 93.21. The Euroyen March 09 contract was up 7.5 ticks to 99.23. The Australian dollar was down 1.08 cents to 0.8959 against the USD and down 0.93 cents to 0.9454 against the Canadian dollar. Against the yen, the U.S. dollar was up 0.18 points to 109.62 and the Canadian dollar was down 0.09 points to 103.85. The euro was down 0.90 cents to 1.5232 USD. All data taken at 2:16 a.m. EDT.
