Oct. 31 (Bloomberg) -- France's benchmark stock index, the CAC 40, fell 0.98 percent at 9:05 a.m.
The index of 40 companies traded on the Paris Bourse fell 33.44 to 3,374.38. Among the stocks in the index, 9 rose, 30 fell and 1 was unchanged.
Declines in the CAC 40 were led by L'oreal Sa, France Telecom Sa and Gdf Suez. About 5.80 million shares traded in the CAC 40.
