Jan. 21 (Bloomberg) -- ConocoPhillips, the second-largest U.S. refiner, said it will carry out maintenance on the pollution control devices at the gasoline-making unit at its Borger, Texas, refinery.
The electrostatic precipitators at Borger’s Unit 40 fluidized catalytic cracking plant will be repaired from Jan. 21 to Feb. 4 ,the Houston-based company said in a state regulatory filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
Electrostatic precipitators remove particulate matter from the refinery’s exhaust. A fluid catalytic cracker processes vacuum gasoil into lighter oil products such as gasoline.
The Borger refinery can process 152,000 barrels of crude oil a day, according to the U.S. Energy Department.
Valero Energy Corp. is the largest U.S. refiner.
