(CEP News) - Asia-Pacific fixed income markets are gaining and equities closed higher with yields on Australian 10-year bonds down 3.8 bps to 6.26% and Japanese 10-year government bonds down 1.5 bps to 1.54%. Sydney's S&P ASX 200 closed up 89.30 points to 4936.699. The Japanese Nikkei closed up 208.34 points to 13367.79 and the Hang Seng up 458.40 points to 22716.4. Yields on three-year Australian bonds were down 13.6 bps to 7.30 and the Australian 90-day March 09 contract was up 12.0 ticks to 92.54. The Euroyen March 09 contract was up 3.5 ticks to 99.08. The Australian dollar was down 0.53 cents to 0.9476 against the USD and down 0.46 cents to 0.9707 against the Canadian dollar. Against the yen, the U.S. dollar was up 0.05 points to 108.15 and the Canadian dollar was down 0.04 points to 105.57. The euro was down 0.20 cents to 1.5574 USD. All data taken at 2:13 a.m. EDT.
