July 30 (Bloomberg) -- The following events and economic reports may influence trading in Asian currencies today.
Exchange rates are from the previous session.
Japanese yen: The Trade Ministry will release June factory production data at 8:50 a.m. local time.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Nobutaka Machimura will hold briefings at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. in Tokyo.
The yen was at 108.17 a dollar at 10:42 a.m. in New York.
Singapore dollar: The unemployment rate may have climbed to 2.2 percent in the second quarter, economists said in a Bloomberg News survey before a government report tomorrow. The jobless rate was 2 percent in the three months ended March.
The Singapore dollar traded at S$1.3682.
Thai baht: The June current-account balance is due tomorrow. Thailand reported a surplus of $631 million in May.
The baht traded at 33.49.
Hong Kong dollar: The government will report June retail sales data tomorrow. Retail sales by value may have risen 11 percent in June from a year earlier, after increasing 12.9 percent in May, economists said in a Bloomberg survey.
The Hong Kong dollar was at HK$7.8021.
