(CEP News) - Asia-Pacific fixed income markets are gaining and equities closed lower with yields on Australian 10-year bonds down 2.1 bps to 5.85% and Japanese 10-year government bonds down 0.6 bps to 1.46%.
Sydney's S&P ASX 200 closed down 102.00 points to 4951.6.
The Japanese Nikkei closed down 280.55 points to 13023.05 and the Hang Seng down 146.92 points to 21493.97.
Yields on three-year Australian bonds were up 3.0 bps to 6.71 and the Australian 90-day March 09 contract was up 3.0 ticks to 93.27.
The Euroyen March 09 contract was up 1.5 ticks to 99.23.
The Australian dollar was down 0.68 cents to 0.8667 against the USD and down 0.71 cents to 0.9222 against the Canadian dollar.
Against the yen, the U.S. dollar was down 0.59 points to 108.69 and the Canadian dollar was down 0.55 points to 102.18.
The euro was up 0.10 cents to 1.4934 USD.
