Aracruz, Ecopetrol, Nossa Caixa, Telmex: Latin Equity Preview

Nov. 25 (Bloomberg) -- The following companies may have unusual price changes today in Latin America trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and share prices reflect the previous close.

The MSCI Latin America Index rose 13 percent yesterday to 1,877.81.

Argentina

Telecom Argentina SA (TECO2 AF) and Transportadora de Gas del Sur SA (TGSU2 AF): The country’s No. 2 telephone company and biggest natural gas transporter were among Argentine companies that had their credit ratings put on negative watch by Fitch Ratings. Telecom rose 7.8 percent to 4.85 pesos. TGS climbed 3.9 percent to 1.35 peso.

Brazil

Aracruz Celulose SA (ARCZ6 BS): The world’s biggest eucalyptus- pulp maker said shareholders voted in a meeting yesterday to sue former Chief Financial Officer Isac Zagury. Aracruz rose 6.2 percent to 2.07 reais.

Banco Nossa Caixa SA (BNCA3 BS): The state-controlled bank being bought by Banco do Brasil SA may have its credit rating raised, said Moody’s Investors Service yesterday. Nossa Caixa rose 0.9 percent to 63.55 reais.

Localiza Rent a Car SA (RENT3 BS): Latin America’s biggest car- rental company announced a new stock repurchase plan in which it may acquire 5.9 million voting shares, the company said yesterday. Localiza rose 1.6 percent to 5.79 reais.

Colombia

Ecopetrol SA (ECOPETL CB): Colombia’s state-controlled oil company closed pipelines situated where residents are protesting the government, Petrominerales Chief Executive Officer John Wright said yesterday. Ecopetrol rose 3.5 percent to 1,930 pesos.

Mexico

Telefonos de Mexico SAB (TELMEXL MM): The country’s biggest landline telephone company will sell Dish Mexico’s new satellite television service and charge for it on phone bills, according to a statement released yesterday. Telmex rose 8 percent to 11.73 pesos.
