Nov. 18 (Bloomberg) -- Exxon Mobil Corp., the world's largest oil company, restarted a heavy-oil upgrading unit at its refinery in Baytown, Texas.

A gas turbine may release emissions during the start up of the plants so-called flexicoker unit, the company said in a filing with state regulators. The restart will last until Dec. 3, Exxon told the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

A flexicoker converts the heaviest components of crude oil into lighter components such as diesel fuel and gasoline.

The Baytown refinery, the largest in the U.S., has the capacity to process 590,500 barrels of oil a day, U.S. Energy Department data show.
