Dec. 9 (Bloomberg) -- CPC Corp., Taiwan's state-owned oil company, restarted a crude-oil processing unit in its Kaohsiung refinery after planned maintenance.
The No. 8 crude distillation unit, with a capacity of 100,000 barrels a day, resumed production early December after being closed for more than 40 days, said a CPC official, who declined to be identified because of company policy.
The refiner also restarted a 38,000 barrel-a-day residue desulfurization unit after scheduled repairs, he said, declining to give dates.
CPC's three refineries in Taiwan have a combined capacity of 720,000 barrels of crude oil a day. The distillation unit, the main part of a refinery, heats crude to separate it into different products. A residue desulfurization unit removes sulfur from residual fuel, processing it into higher-priced gasoline, diesel and jet fuel.
