Dec. 4 (Bloomberg) -- France's benchmark stock index, the CAC 40, fell 0.55 percent at 9:05 a.m.
The index of 40 companies traded on the Paris Bourse fell 17.41 to 3,149.24. Among the stocks in the index, 14 rose and 26 fell.
Declines in the CAC 40 were led by Total Sa, France Telecom Sa and Gdf Suez. About 2.87 million shares traded in the CAC 40.
